Hong Zao Red Glutinous Rice Chicken

红糟鸡

Rice wine and Hong Zao help to warm up the body and improve blood circulation. The alcohol will evaporate after cooking, making it safe for breastfeeding mothers. If this is a concern, mothers can breastfeed 2 hours after consuming a dish with wine.

Cordyceps flower is a cultured mushroom that can strengthen the lungs, liver and kidney. This soup aids in building up the strength and immunity of the mother’s body after delivery.

Papaya & Peanut with Pork Rib Soup

木瓜花生排骨汤

Green Papaya helps with promoting milk supply, it is also rich in Vitamin A and C. It also provides folate, a natural source of vitamin B, and is rich in dietary fibres and minerals such as potassium. Peanuts also viewed as a galactagogue in Asia culture. It is rich in plant based protein, rich in fats (both mono and polyunsaturated fats), high in Vitamin B complex (which boost energy level) and it is believed to enhance milk production as well.

Kai Lan is the superstar of vegetables where nutrients are concerned. It has the highest calcium content of any vegetable. Astragalus Root

黄芪 (Huang Qi)

Astragalus is used to treat the common cold and upper respiratory infections. It stimulates the spleen, liver, lungs, circulatory and urinary system.

Black Bean

黑豆

Black beans help to strengthen bones, lowers blood pressure, reduces the risks of heart disease, good for pregnancy by promoting secretion of breast milk and contain high antioxidants.

Bulbus Lilii

百合 (Bai He)

Bai He nourishes Yin and moistens the lungs. It is used to treat chronic cough due to Yin deficiency and blood in sputum. It also clears heart heat and calms the spirit.

Burdock Root

牛蒡 (Niu Bang)

Burdock root helps to purify the blood, strengthens the lymphatic system and a natural diuretic and skin healer. It improves arthritis, helps treat an enlarged spleen and fights tonsillitis.

Chinese Angelica Root

当归 (Dang Gui)

Dang gui is widely used for women’s health and reputedly to aid cardiovascular conditions, osteoarthritis, inflammation, headache, infections, mild anaemia and hypertension.

Chinese Foxglove

熟地 (Shu Di Huang)

It nourishes the Yin, remove heat from the blood and is a tonic for the liver. It is good for the treatment of hypertension, anaemia, insomnia, constipation and fatigue too.

Chinese Motherwort

益母草 (Yi Mu Cao)

As the name implies, it is literally a beneficial herb for mothers. In China, it is being studied for its potential to prevent postpartum haemorrhage after caesarean section.

Codonopsis Root

党参 (Dang Shen)

It is a superb and potent Qi tonic. It invigorates the spleen and lung functions and promotes the production of body fluids. It helps to improve the digestive system and blood deficiency too.

Cordyceps

It is a fungi that improves respiratory health, increase oxygen uptake, boost heart health, detox the body and helps to boost energy level and the immune system too.

Dioscorea

准山 (Huai Shan)

It is used for menstrual cramps and discomfort, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach cramps and pain from gallstones. It also nourishes the heart, spleen, blood and calms the spirit.

Eucommia Bark

杜仲 (Du Zhong)

It has varying degrees of regulation on the immune system, endocrine system, central nervous system, circulatory system and urinary systems.

红糟 (Hong Zao)

It lowers bad cholesterol, strengthening cardio and regulating menses. Promotes blood circulation, helps discharge of blood clots.

Longan

桂圆

It helps to replenish blood, nourish the heart and spleen, improve overall complexion and well being. It also aids in the digestive system and promotes a healthy mind.

Red Date

红枣

It is highly nutritious and packed with fiber and antioxidants. Red dates help to tonify the spleen, replenish Qi, nourishes the blood and calms the mind.

Polygonum

何首乌 (He Shou Wu)

Polygonum replenishes the liver and kidney functions with vital essence and blood. It strengthens the tendons and bones too.

Solomonseal Rhizome

玉竹 (Yu Zhu)

It is used to treat lung disorders, reduce inflammation, and skin conditions. It also nourishes the yin and moistens internal dryness.

Szechuan Lovage Root

川芎 (Chuan Xiong)

This herb helps to invigorate blood and move Qi. It is renowned to help gynaecological disorders like irregular menses, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, difficult labour, postpartum abdominal pain and retained lochia. It also helps to expel wind and relieve pain including headache and dizziness.

White Peony

白芍 (Bai Shao)

It nourishes blood, activates circulation and cools blood; has astringent actions; pacifies liver and alleviates pain.

Wolfberry

枸杞 (Qi Zhi)

It is rich in polysaccharide and vitamins. It helps reinforce the liver and the kidneys, replenish vital essence and improve vision.
